UPDATE: after two short days of being live on CKIE they’ve met their goal of $15K!

There are vibrators out there, hidden in the back of closets and then there is The Duet. In an age where it is acceptable to be expressive about your sexual preferences, many women still find the need to conceal something as basic as this. While it’s hard to explain the reason behind the thinking, it’s easier to empower them with a device that is discreet, elegant, sensual and the ultimate pleasure trove. It’s time to bed The Duet!

Crafted from high quality body safe silicone and metal, what makes the Duet a unique vibrator is its appearance. Designer Ti Chang dares to bring us a device that looks nothing like the conventional form. I’m sure if I carry this to my next girls’ night out, none of my girlfriends will be able to guess what it is. Of course, features like USB charging, waterproof, virtually silent dual motors, 4 vibration modes and 5 power levels are good enough to take us on the trip to the big-O!

I feel like a giddy schoolgirl who is up to some conspiracy and mischief, but imagine charging the Duet on my laptop nonchalantly! How wild is that! To up it a notch, there is an 8 GB Duet Lux version which features data storage. Makes me wonder what I will store in it!

I am excited about this new liberating experience that Crave is ready to offer women. However to get it from the drawing board to the market there is the step of tooling and manufacturing costs that they need to consider. Backing this project will empower the woman in your life (or you) to be in charge of her needs without any hassles.

You can pledge with a CKIE Special Offer of $75 that gets you a USB Rechargeable Duet, which otherwise retails for $139. The 8 GB Duet Lux (with 8GB Data storage) is for $125, which retails for $189. There are several other exciting options for CKIE Backers that you might want to check out, but all offers are available only for a very limited period of time. Get Going!

Inspired by scanning devices for scanning targets in sci-fi movies, the Sonar Watch has three themes – blue for sonar, green for radar, and red for a scanner interface. The time is shown as three targets which are lit up. By pressing a button, a radar/sonar/scanner animation will play. The dots represent the hour, minutes and seconds. Cool, novel design. Definitely something I could see Tokyoflash selling.

I find it quite amusing that here we have a range of washing machines promising us features and cleaning like never before, and yet two daring designers are suggesting that we go back to the basics – hand washing. No doubt hand washed clothes have the best results, but it is quite a pain to sit crouched on the floor to do the scrubbing, even if you use a washboard. Hence the Pond is quite the apt answer to the problem. It’s a protective ridged cover that fits on a sink and allows you to hand wash clothes – standing! No crouching and good enough to do small batches of laundry! Superb!

This is what Yoori Koo has to say, “The point of the design is not only for easy hand laundering…. this idea comes from ‘how to save water’. We thought a lot about the way to save water and designed this to encourage people to hand-laundry by easing all the inconvenience occurred during hand washing.. It could sound quite same… but It is quite different. W want to say “small change in a bathroom sink makes a big difference in environment”

The folks over at Tokyoflash tend to come up with some pretty inscrutable watches, but their latest creation, the Kisai 3D Unlimited, looks refreshingly… simple. Its cube-like, “3D” time display may not be conventional, but its mirrored LCD doesn’t require a degree in cryptology, either (the time displayed above is 12:34. See it?). The watch also features a pretty sleek, stainless steel design, with a case measuring just 8.5mm thick, and a fully adjustable strap that can fit even the daintiest of wrists. If you’re interested in grabbing one, you can choose from seven different colors at the source link, for about $120. Otherwise, check out some more pics in the gallery below, or slip past the break for a couple of demo videos from Tokyoflash Japan.

Using the same lenticular printing technology as many image-shifting postcards and “wiggle pictures,” the AM/PM Wall Clock by Studio Dreimann allows the viewer to read both AM and PM times by simply changing their viewing perspective. It may look like the most simple of clocks from a direct front view, but take a few steps to the side and with an illusion of depth you’ll see the numbers almost magically change to PM

I remember borrowing a professional camera from a cousin for my African Safari Honeymoon. You would expect me to capture some really gorgeous pictures of lions making their kill, well to cut a long story short, I had no clue how to work the thing, so I ended up overexposing some pictures and taking out-of-focus shots. Thankfully the current generation of DSLRs is more forgiving towards amateurs. But basics like lighting and exposure can still intimidate some, hence the need for the Flower! A lens cap that allows you to automatically capture some stunning shots by simply regulating the light exposure; ok Africa, here I come!

Du.Static is the combination of dust and static and its main objective is to rid your room of dust particles. A magic wand kinda stick attracts all dust to it using static electricity and deposits it into the holding trash when the charge is out. The main unit doubles up as an air purifier and indicates the air-quality via the LED indicator. I like it for its sleek looks and moreover my Pottermania isn’t over yet. Maybe I can practice some spells with it…like Repello Dusto!

OneBike is quite an innovation I tell you! It’s an electric bike that gets powered by kinetic energy. Basically when you set it on its cradle at home, the bike becomes a stationary fitness machine. So every time you pedal to keep fit, it harnesses energy from your motion and converts it to electric power. Tank up the juice and cruise the roads my friends! Awesome!

The Cuum is when a vacuum cleaner and the dustbin made love. It’s a good combination of the two, where the top functions like a regular trash bin, and the base like a vacuum. So just sweep the dirt towards the bin and watch it devour it all up! No more bending, no more pails; love it!

The Cuum is a 2011 IDEA Awards Entry.

One of the secrets to great cooking is to measure out the ingredients as accurately as possible. While dry ingredients are not so much of a pain, it’s the liquids that make me quiver. Handy Meter is a digital measure that goes around the faucet mouth or spouts of bottles and jugs, to pour out the right amount of liquid. It does away with the need for a measuring jar, hence increasing the accuracy. I suppose it has an inbuilt mechanism that terminates the flow of liquid, once the desired amount has been poured. This will be an ideal feature.
